Plate Dance of Minangkabau, Indonesia

Plate or in the language of dance called the Dance Piriang Minangkabau, is one type of Dance which originated from the Minangkabau of West Sumatra called the plate because the dancers dance while dancing to bring a plate.
At first the old days of dance dishes created to give offerings to the gods when it enters the harvest, but after the arrival of Islam in Minangkabau dance to the offering plate is no longer the gods but is intended for crowd majlis-majlis attended by kings or princes country, dance plate also used in other crowded events such as the wedding ceremony.Regarding the plate appearance of the first dance is not yet known for sure, but it is believed that the dance dish has been in the Malay islands since more than 800 years ago.

Dance is also believed to have existed plate in western Sumatra and growing up in the days of Sri Wijaya. After the emergence of Majapahit in the 16th century that dropped the Sri Wijaya, has pushed the plate dance developed to developing countries along with the other Malay people sri runaway victory at the time.
