Kecak Dance from Bali

Kecak Dance or Kecak Dance Arts is a dance originating from Bali Indonesia, Kecak Dance is performed by many [dozens or more] of the male dancers who sit in rows in a circle and with a certain rhythm and chanting "cak" and raised both the arm. The dancers are sitting in a circle is wearing a plaid fabric like a chessboard their waist. Besides the dancers, there were other dancers who portray the characters of Ramayana like Rama, Shinta, Ravana, Hanuman and Sugriva.


Kecak dance sequence depicting the Ramayana as an ape help fight Ravana. However, the Kecak originated from sanghyang ritual, which the dancers dance traditions will be in an unconscious condition, communicating with God or the spirits of the ancestors and then convey their expectations to the community.
Based on references from wikipedia, although this Kecak Dance Typical Balinese dance, but dance Kecak was created along with foreign artists, so is the painter Walter Spies from Germany. Around the 1930s, Wayan Limbak worked with German painter Walter Spies to create a dance based on traditional Kecak Trance and parts of the story of Ramayana. Wayan Limbak popularizing this dance troupe while traveling the world together
